“Some photos of what was, without a doubt, our best day in Lanzarote. We hired the services of David Penney and his open top jeep for the day. David took us up to the volcano, around some of the unique vineyards, lunch in a non touristy restaurant away from the resorts, visit to an amazing surfers beach, stop off at a goat farm, visit the desert in the middle of the island where the kids (and us) got to run down giant sand dunes and collect some fossilised hornets nests. “Waking up today with a big smile after another day off exploring the island with David and my parents 🙂
I’ve been on a couple of trips with David Penney and his company Adventure Holidays Lanzarote now and every time he amazes me with the beauty of the island and new stunning places to discover!

A little summary of yesterday’s trip:

We drove off towards the north of the island, first stop the race track with a loads of beautiful horses.
Next stop the famous pirate castle, including the most detailed explanation ever about the population of Lanzarote and the pirate attacks…

Afterwards off-road to the caves, Impressive caves and the views from there where absolutely stunning!
Time to fill up with energy with a great lunch in a little traditional Canadian restaurant in Haria, delicious tapas and a great atmosphere!

With a full belly off to the REAL north instead of Mirador el Rio or Orzola but off the most horrendous but exciting dirt track all the way to the cliffs to the north! Spectacular to see the clouds rolling of the cliffs and hills 🙂
Which I didn’t know about this place, there are loads of bunkers from the Second World War build by Franco so another history lesson!

Afterwards we had some time left to visit some smaller caves and check out the different vegetation on the island before heading home and getting dropped off!

I highly recommend everyone; islanders, locals, visitors, holiday makers to have a look at the website and book a awesome day trip with David, you’ll get to know the island as you never knew before!

There is so much to explore and see what you normally won’t see or just do because you’re to busy with daily life! You’ll get a totally different perspective of the island and you’ll escape the daily routine for just a day with some amazing stuff!

“Still buzzing from yesterday’s day out exploring the island with David, Jonas, Arjan & Nathalie!!

David took us to the north of the island to explore some of the lava tunnels which are a secret to the public!
Being in complete darkness for over three hours was a awesome experience!!! So much to see and to discover and we’ve learned a lot about lava flows and volcanoes, thanks David!

Afterwards a well deserved lunch with delicious tapas in Arrieta. Driving back home we decided to do a small detour and ended up in the little desert with the sand dunes.

I thought after living here for almost three years I knew this island but I’m wrong, there are so many places I haven’t seen or even haven’t heard of! Quite shocked to be honest, there is so much around in your backyard you don’t know about and we just don’t go out there to see what it is. So good lessons learned go out and about and explore and be amazed what you’ll find!

On holiday with my twins (have left husband and son in England). I booked a day with a guy named David Penney and he’s shown us the most amazing sights, not the usual tourist stuff, off roading, exploring, risk taking.
